Summer, 2004 Greetings, good people, The summer of 2004 is, amazingly enough, the 22nd season of Muir presentations in Yosemite! And, for the first time in the long history of the various shows, Lee is doing all three of the one-person Muir shows every week. The Spirit of John Muir is presented on Monday, John Muir Among the Animals on Wednesday, and Conversation with a Tramp on Fridays. All shows are presented at 8 PM at the Visitor Center in Yosemite Valley, and each production is about an hour and half in length. This allows Lee to provide Yosemite visitors with a greater variety of stories weekly, delivering the very best of Muir's humor and wilderness philosophy - and remarkable adventures. And since last year, we’ve been blessed with being able to use the renovated West Auditorium at the Visitors Center. Air-conditioned and with very comfy seating, it’s a major improvement over past seasons. To make reservations, you can call the Yosemite Concession Services tour desk at (209) 372-1240. The season will end on October 1st, but we’re likely to be doing holiday shows at Yosemite Lodge at the turn of the year, as usual. We added a new twist to Connie's performances in the 2003 season, taking her two hour-long shows, called Sarah Hawkins Contemplates a Fourth Marriage and Pickaxes and Petticoats - the first of which describes the perils of a wagon train journey to California in 1848 and the other of which details the astonishing stories of women in the California gold fields - and merged them. This new condensed Sarah continues to delight our visitors with this funny, feisty character, and allows them to see in one evening most of what previously took two evenings. She presents them on Tuesday and Thursday in the Valley. All of our shows continue to be available for touring throughout the country, including The Tramp and the Roughrider, a dramatic presentation of the encounter at Glacier Point between Muir and Teddy Roosevelt, and Down The Unknown, the story of John Wesley Powell’s perilous trip down the Grand Canyon. The description of these shows and the current schedule for productions outside of the Park is posted elsewhere on this web site. Recent years have had us enjoying the usual summer presentations in Yosemite National Park, and touring to many delightful places for organizations and communities throughout the Country. We've had a working tour of Japan's National Parks, been to Scotland twice, and to Alaska on several occasions, among other wonderful spots. We look forward to being in your community some day soon. We continue to enjoy Mariposa, the mountains, dogs, cats, the garden and good health. Lee’s work as a Mariposa County Supervisor keeps him challenged and stimulated, and we feel in every way blessed. Hope to see you soon, down trail, Lee
